A Week of Retiring Stamps - Day 7- Goodbye to Uncharted Territory

Here is my last card for the week of retiring stamps.

It uses the beautiful sketched stamp set, Uncharted Territory. For this card, I used the lighthouse image and stamped it on Very Vanilla with Early Espresso. I added a little Soft Suede ink with a blender pen to shade the lighthouse. Then I stamped the image on a post it note, cut it out and used that as a mask to cover the lighthouse.  I used a torn post it note, sponge and Not Quite Navy ink to create the sky around the masked image. The images is matted on a piece of Early Espresso cardstock. The card base is Not Quite Navy, and I added designer paper from the Well Worn paper pack and Cajun Craze cardstock on the top. The Cajun Craze panel was embossed using one of the plates from the Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates. I added a little strip of Not Quite Navy and wrapped it with Early Espresso Baker's Twine. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. This set has a greetings for a lot of different occasions, so it would be easy to change this card to something like a birthday card. It was punched out using the Decorative Label Punch. To see how to make this shape from the Decorative Label punch, see this post on my blog. http://mnfroggie.blogspot.com/2011/05/polka-dots-toile-and-tutorial-for.html

A Week of Retiring Stamps - Day 6 - Goodbye to Nature's Nest

My card for today uses a stamp from Nature's Nest, which is a set with beautifully drawn images of things found in nature. I love this little turtle, isn't he adorable!

I stamped the turtle image on Very Vanilla in Black Stazon,  then stamped it again on Always Artichoke. I cut the shell part of the image out of the Artichoke. I colored the turtle's head and legs with a Sahara Sand marker, and attached the shell onto the image.  The greeting is from Sincere Salutations. I spritzed the image panel with a Chocolate Chip marker and the color spritzer tool.  For the panel underneath, I ran it halfway through my Crimper, punched a hole in it and added a bit of twill tape. then I sponged the entire thing with Chocolate Chip ink. I punched out a Scalloped Dotted Ribbon Border and cut it in half length-wise and attached it to the bottom of the Artichoke panel.  Then I attembled it all on a Chocolate Chip card base.

A Week of Retiring Stamps - Day 5 - Goodbye to Fox & Friends

Here's a cute little card for you today. It's a perfect card for a new baby, but you could change the greeting and easily make it into a young child's birthday card.

This layout is inspired by a card from the talented Mary Fish. I cut five 1"x4" strips of Nursey Nest designer paper and attached them to a Pear Pizzazz card base. The monkey images are from the Fox & Friends stamp set, and are stamped in Early Espresso on Whisper White. That panel is on an extra wide mat of Blushing Bride Cardstock. I tied Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding Ribbon around one end. I used the Pinking Hearts border punch on a small strip of Early Espresso Textured Cardstock, and tucked that under the main panel. The greeting, from A Word for You stamp set, is stamped on Marina Mist in Espresso ink.

On the inside, I used Early Espresso ink and textured paper, the Pinking Hearts border punch and Nursery Nest designer paper again. The greeting is from Curvy Verses.

A Week of Retiring Stamps - Day 4-Goodbye to Totally Tool

My card for today showcases the Totally Tool stamp set. This set is great not only because tool images are great for masculine cards, but also it has so many fun tool-themed greetings!

The card base is Always Artichoke, and the Card Front is Sahara Sand. I stamped the Sahara sand with Artichoke ink and the Wonderfully Worn Background stamp. Then I stamped all the tool images. The ribbon is Artichoke Denim Ribbon.  I stamped the greeting on Very Vanilla, matted it with Artichoke and attached it with Dimensionals. I stamped two of the tools in Artichoke on Sahara Sand, added a little color with a blender pen, cut them out, and adhered them to the center panel with glue dots. Easy masculine card!

A Week of Retiring Stamps - Day 3 - Goodbye to Flores Suaves

Here is my card for Day 3 of my week of retiring stamps.

I love this stamp set, Flores Suaves, but I think it was one that didn't get a lot of notice. It's only in Celebrando Creatividad, SU!'s Spanish catalog. For this card I used Marina Mist card base and a Whisper White card front. I embossed the top half of the white card front with the Finial Press Embossing Folder and added a strip of Daffodil Delight designer paper to the bottom of the card front. This paper is from Greenhouse Garden, which is retired, but any Daffodil Delight designer paper would look great here. I added a strip of Marina Mist 1-1/4" wide striped grosgrain ribbon across the center. I stamped a piece of Whisper White Cardstock with Marina Mist ink using the words from Flores Suaves, then punched out four scallop squares. I stamped "for you" (From the stamp set A Word For You) on one of them in Basic Black. I attached them to the card front with Dimensionals. I made a brad bow using the Marina Mist 1-1/4" wide striped grosgrain ribbon and a Rhinestone Brads. For a tutorial on making this bow, please see my previous post, linked here. http://mnfroggie.blogspot.com/2011/05/sunny-fun-flip-flop-card-brad-bow.html  To create the butterflies, I stamped the image (from Flores Suaves) onto Whisper White using black Stazon. Then I used a sponge dauber to add a thick coat of Daffodil Delight ink on the inner part of the butterflies wings. I used a sponge dauber to add a heavy layer of Marina Mist along the edge. Then I used a blender pen to add a little More Mustard to the body. I cut out the butterflies and sponged a little bit of Pacific Point ink on the outside edge of the wings. The butterflies were attached with Glue Dot.

Now for the inside of the card. It's pretty simple, but showcases a couple of really nice things that are retiring.

The stamp set I used is from On Your Birthday, and the punch is the Eyelet Border Punch. Together they make a fun little inside for my card!

A Week of Retiring Stamps - Day 2 - Borderlines Birthday Card

Here is the second of my daily posts for this last week of May. Each day I will be posting cards highlighting stamps, tools and accessories that are retiring on May 31st. Today' card is this fun little birthday card.

I used Whiper White Cardstock for the card front and added a strip of designer paper from the Flirtatious Specialty paper pack along the bottom. Then I stamped the leaf image from the Borderlines stamp set about 1/4" above the designer paper in Old Olive ink. I inserted the card front into a Finial Press embossing folder just so that it covered the top of the card down to the leaves image, and ran it through the Big Shot. I used a strip of the Flirtatious designer paper to punch out the lacy strip using the Lace Ribbon Border Punch. I ran a 1/8" Old Olive Taffeta Ribbon through the lace punch out. (Tip - cut the end of your ribbon at an angle, so that there is a "point" on it, that will make it easier to lace through a hole.) I used a few very small dots of Mulitpurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the lace punch to the card front and wrapped the ribbon ends around the back. Then I attached the card front to a Melon Mambo card base. I punched one 2-3/8" Scallop Circle and two Fancy Flowers out of Old Olive Textured cardstock. I went ahead and attached the scallop circle to the card. Then I stamped the "let's celebrate" greeting from On Your Birthday stamp set on whisper white and punched it out with a 1" circle punch. I curled both Fancy Flower Punches with a bone folder, attached them together and the greeting to the front. Then I used dimensionals to attach them to the scallop circle.

Now the inside is really simple, just a little dressed up.

I used another image from the Borderlines stamp set to put a row of Daffodil Delight Polka dots on the top and bottom of the card liner, then I stamped a greeeting from the On Your Birthday set in Old Olive ink.

A Week of Retiring Stamps - Day 1 - Pocket Silhouettes Get Well card

For this last week of May, I am going to try to post daily. I will be posting cards highlighting stamps, tools and accessories that are retiring on May 31st. Here is my card for today.

The base of this card is Pear Pizzazz Cardstock. I used the Scallop Edge punch on a small strip of Pear Pizzazz cardstock and the Eyelet Border Punch on a small strip of Basic Black Cardstock. I adhered both of them to the card base, and tied Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon around the card base to cover up the top of the Pear Pizzazz strip. I used the 2 ½” circle punch to punch a hole out of the center of a post-it note. I put the post it note (the square one with a hole, not the circle) onto a 3”x3” piece of Whisper White cardstock to create a mask. Using a sponge dauber, I sponged Pear Pizzazz ink onto part of the cardstock, and Baja Breeze ink onto the rest of the cardstock. Then I stamped the flower images from Pocket Silhouettes stamp set using Basic Black ink. The “Get Well” sentiment is from the Delightful Dozen stamp set. I matted this onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and adhered it to the card front.

I kept the inside really simple, just dressing it up a bit using a stamp from the Pocket Silhouettes set and a small strip of Baja Breeze cardstock.
